The Khruba Worship, which is a branch of Yuan Buddhism flourishing in northern Thailand. One notable discipline of this practice is to adhere to a plant-based diet. Vegetarianism and meditation are part of their daily practice. The Khrubas taught Buddhist teachings to their students and advised them to switch to a vegetarian diet.He taught the Dharma to the villagers, telling them to not kill or cause harm to animals, cease meat eating and abstain from alcohol. He also taught them Buddhist wisdoms and to be kind towards all living beings. The monks and the villagers there still keep vegetarian diets and continue to follow the wise teachings of Khruba Chaiyawongsa.
