In today’s news, Japan supports farmers and displaced community in Bangladesh, scientists discover gene hidden within COVID-19 virus, researchers improve solar panel light absorption, artificial intelligence used to solve plastic waste pollution in Australia, 12-year-old in United States makes baseball bats to raise funds for disaster relief, survey confirms plant-based trend in Germany and Europe, and Malian dog meat sellers transition to growing crops.

Japan supports farmers and displaced people in Bangladesh.

Japan, a Shining World Leadership Awards for Compassion, Animal Protection and Generosity laureate, has signed an agreement with the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), to provide US$5 million to support both the Rohingya community from Myanmar and local Bangladeshi farmers. Through WFP’s farmers’ market initiative, 2,400 Bangladeshi local farmers in Cox’s Bazar District will be assisted to cultivate and sell vegetables at a market servicing 20,000 Rohingya refugees. The displaced individuals in turn will have better access to diverse and fresh local foods using a WFP Assistance Card. In addition, the model also enhances the peaceful co-existence and social interdependence of the two communities. Since 2017, Japan has contributed approximately US$168 million to various organizations to help the Rohingya refugees. Our sincere gratitude, Japan and the World Food Programme. May this project greatly benefit the fine Bangladeshi and Rohingya people, in Heaven’s upliftment.

Researchers find potentially significant gene hiding within COVID-19 virus.

The discovery was made by scientists from the United States, Germany and Taiwan, also known as Formosa. The newly evolved gene, called ORF3d, was not detected until recently because it overlaps with other gene segments in the virus’ RNA and DNA. Although its function is not yet known, the scientists noted that as one of only about 15 genes making up the virus, ORF3d could make developing treatments more difficult. It might also partly explain why the novel coronavirus has been able to spread so quickly among humans. Thank you, researchers, for helping us to further understand the challenging nature of the COVID-19 virus. May we soon realize the root cause of this and other pandemics and commit to the best solution: a vegan life of harmony with all beings.

Up next, scientists find new way to improve solar panel light absorption. We’ll now give thanks to the compassionate people who take time during the holidays to help make sure that those in need are cared for and loved. Please stay tuned to Supreme Master Television for more informative news.

Hi, loving friends, how have you been? I’m Goldy the vegan Sun Conure. Want to look like a movie star? Adopt a vegan diet and you’ll look and feel like a million bucks! Today we are happy to share a tip from our Beloved Supreme Master Ching Hai: “Many food items can be cooked without much trouble. Noodles, spaghetti, spinach and bok choy, for example, don’t need to be boiled: after they’re washed, just place them in oven glassware, pour boiling water directly on them, cover for a while, strain out the water and serve as is. If they are not soft enough, just repeat once more. This is convenient and saves you waiting and washing time. Enjoy inventing new ways to prepare vegan food! God loves you kids!” Wow, this easy method is a must-try for all of us busy folks! Thank You, Supreme Master Ching Hai. We love You! And love you all for Being Veg and Going Green 2 Save the Planet thus save the world! Thank you for your attention, and here’s the weather around our beautiful globe.

Scientists improve solar panel light absorption by using checkerboard patterns.

A research team from the University of York in the United Kingdom, NOVA University Lisbon of Portugal and University of São Paulo in Brazil, have developed a way to boost the power output of solar panels by an impressive 125%, simply by etching special patterns into the surface. After experimenting with various line sequences on a thin silicon slab, it was found that the checkerboard pattern with randomized rotations of its repeating units, was able to trap more light instead of reflecting it back. The discovery means that the slim panels can now produce the same power as more sophisticated designs, but require 10 times less resources to construct. This could pave the way for a more cost-effective, wide-scale production of solar technology. Fantastic news, all researchers involved. May your advancement help lead us to a fully green world, in Celestial grace.

Australian national science agency and partners develop new solutions to end plastic waste.

The Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) has announced joint efforts with global technology company Microsoft, Hobart City Council, and Chemistry Australia representing the country’s chemical and plastics industries. Their goal is to detect plastics and monitor waste in waterways by using artificial intelligence, machine learning, and camera sensors. Specifically, the rubbish will be classified through Microsoft’s image recognition technology to help officials react faster and more effectively. CSIRO is also working with Hobart City Council on an automatic sensor network to track in real-time the amount of waste being collected in storm drains. Furthermore, there are plans with Chemistry Australia to raise awareness on how to sustainably reuse and recycle plastic products. Many thanks, CSIRO, Microsoft, Hobart City Council, and Chemistry Australia. In Divine guidance, may we all work together to clean up our home for future generations.

Twelve-year-old makes baseball bats to raise money for disaster relief.

Tommy Rhomberg of Mount Vernon, Iowa, United States has carved and sold 115 baseball bats from tree limbs toppled by the recent severe windstorm in his area. Tommy’s efforts for charity touched many people’s hearts on social media, with orders for his bats, named “The Great Derecho” after the storm, pouring in from around the country. Diligently working in the garage every day after doing his homework, the sixth grader allocated US$20 from the sale of each bat to the Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation Disaster Recovery Fund, donating a total of more than US$2,500 for local families to recover. Tommy was assisted in his endeavor by his parents, John and Amanda Rhomberg, and grandfather Joe. We applaud you, noble Tommy Rhomberg and supportive family. May God bless you abundantly, as well as those you have helped and inspired.

Coming up, plant-based eating on the rise in Germany and Europe. We’ll spend some time now to let our family and friends know how much we love them and wish them all the best in 2021. More encouraging news coming up on Supreme Master Television. Welcome back to Noteworthy News - Beautiful News for a Glorious World.

Vegan population increases in Germany and Europe.

A new study conducted by the Berlin-based supermarket Veganz found that 3.2% of the respondents in Germany classified themselves as vegan. When applied to the country’s 83 million-plus inhabitants, this equates to more than 2.6 million Germans following a plant-based diet, twice as many as the number found in a 2016 survey. The Veganz polling, which looked at nutrition patterns in seven European countries, also determined that the overall number of flexitarians (people deliberately consuming meat less frequently) has grown to 22.9%, reaching 31.8% in Austria, nearly a third of its population. Thank you for the survey, Veganz, and a hearty bravo, Germany and Europe! We pray you will lead the way in the loving and sustainable lifestyle for our world to have a bright future blessed by Heaven.

Malian dog meat sellers quit to grow crops.

At a ceremony held in southern Mali attended by the Sébougou village’s mayor, local nonprofit ARAF-Plateau Dogon gifted 20 former dog meat traders farming equipment to transition to the peaceful livelihood of crop-planting. Financed by United States-based nonprofit media group Lady Freethinker (LFT), each reformed trader will also receive a quarter of a hectare of land and supplies including tubers and small fruit trees. They are the first among dozens who are eager to change the way they earn income and are even speaking out against the dog meat business. LFT President Nina Jackel said, “This is a huge step toward ending the dog meat trade in the region and creating sustainable, long-lasting change.” On behalf of both humans and canines spared, we are grateful, ARAF-Plateau Dogon and Lady Freethinker. May Allah bless the brave new farmers of Mali and grace many more to awaken their Divine goodness within. Supreme Master Ching Hai: “Tearfully present Lady Freethinker and ARAF-Plateau Dogon each with the Shining World Compassion Award, plus a US$10,000 humble contribution to support your joint life-saving cause, with all love, thankfulness and best wishes, in Heaven’s joy.”

A good, hearty laugh relieves stress and tension, so laugh as much as you can. Enjoy this joke of the day entitled, “From the Outside.”

Mrs. Baker went to her neighbor’s house to borrow some spices for her vegan meal. After seeing the inner state of the house from outside, she exclaimed:

“Oh dear! Why is your house so messy?”

“My house is not messy... I’ve just set up obstacles for any robber that might want to test their luck.”

And now we have a heartline from disciples in Taiwan, also known as Formosa:

Our Dearest Beloved Master, Disasters such as floods, plagues and fires keep happening all around the once beautiful Earth. God’s tears of compassion become a shield for the planet. The rainbow-colored auspicious clouds appear in the sky for the planet to survive. May people get awakened soon to protect the Earth and animals. May all beings live in harmony and the Earth join the big family of the Universe. Happy New Year! Sincerely Disciples from Taiwan (Formosa)

Supreme Master Ching Hai has a message for you: “Beautiful souls in Taiwan (Formosa), I love you all and thank you for your pure goodness. Wish you all a Blessed 2021. For Earth’s inhabitants to immediately awaken and live harmoniously upon our benevolent planet would be a realization of our goal. My eyes fill with tears of joy at the thought of no more cruelty or pain for humanity, animals, Mother Nature and the Earth! May you know Buddha’s Grace and may Heaven shine on the lives of the gentle Taiwanese (Formosan) people. I pray all beings enjoy a very happy new year.”
