Krishna is an avatara in our religion. Avatara means incarnation of God. I here what it meant is the Supreme Self. Self is the entire universe, the Self of man, the Self of all conscious beings, consciousness. That is Self. Only projections of this Self. In addition to the inner Heavenly Sound, Hindu philosophy also talks about the inner Heavenly Light as another manifestation of God, or the Supreme Self. This body is subject to change and perish, so we have to go after the consciousness, not the body. It transcends the body. It is everywhere.
