According to a United Nations report, one of every eight plant or animal-people species on Earth faces extinction. In addition, the rate at which species are disappearing is the highest in human history. “Facing multiple threats, including habitat loss, disease, and climate change, amphibians are the most threatened group of vertebrates in the world.” “As per the IUCN report, 41% of amphibians are now threatened globally.” According to a recent scientific report, half of all bird-individual species are currently in decline, and 1,400 have already gone extinct. “According to the French League for Birds, over 500 birds have been found dead along the French Atlantic Coast since the start of the year with no exact explanation.” Scientists in Italy recently observed that due to rising temperatures, these beautiful mountain goat-people are becoming more nocturnal. This change puts them in far greater danger from their nocturnal predators. Rising temperatures are also threatening sea turtle-people. Formerly, fluctuating temperatures would produce a reasonably even number of males and females. However, because of global warming, nearly every sea turtle baby born in Florida, United States, over the past four years has been female. In late 2023, at least 100 elephant-people died in Zimbabwe’s largest national park. Experts say that the blistering heat combined with an extended drought was the cause of their deaths.

Our Most Beloved Supreme Master Ching Hai (vegan) has often warned about the dangerous consequences of biodiversity loss and climate change, saying that a global shift to a vegan lifestyle is the only way to simultaneously stop both calamities. “That means we have less love, less loving power to protect us, and to keep the Earth’s atmosphere in balance. But the humans, by having harmed the animal-people, we are harming ourselves so much, so much. If only humans know what are the consequences, I think they will stop abusing animal-people, and immediately, and will feel very, very repentant and very sorry for what we have done to our animal friends and helpers and blessed beings, blessing source of love and protection. Maybe soon everybody will realize that. I hope.”
