In today’s show, we will hear three uplifting songs performed by various groups during the recent precautionary lockdowns. The first song, written by acoustic folk duo MaMuse, is called “We Shall Be Known.” It is performed by the UU the Vote Virtual Choir at the “How We Thrive” live event. The event is an initiative by the Unitarian Universalist Association.

Our next song, “For Such a Time as This,” written and performed by Marty Goetz and his daughter Misha, was inspired by the Bible story on the Jewish Queen, Esther. As a young girl, Esther was called upon to be a hero to save her people. Regarding the song, the father and daughter wrote the following: “In times of crisis and uncertainty, such as these, history has a way of turning ordinary people into extraordinary heroes. Every one of us has been called upon to make difficult and costly sacrifices. Still, there are those who have been on the frontlines in this battle against our invisible enemy – doctors, nurses, first responders, and the many people who have gone to work daily on our behalf, providing our essential needs. We are releasing this new song in honor of them.”

Our last song today is called “Hope!” written by Alex Bevan and performed by the Echo Women’s Choir. Since the lockdown in September 2020, the choir members have been meeting and rehearsing on Zoom regularly, perfecting their performance virtually. They have done a fantastic job, as we are about to see.
