Here is a tip on when you should harvest pumpkins. Different pumpkin types may produce fruit that are orange, white, yellow or even greenish-blue. Being aware of what color your aged pumpkins are supposed to, be will help you determine when they are ripe and ready for harvest. Pumpkins will continue to flourish as long as their vines are green, so you will know it’s time to harvest when the vines turn brown, and start to shrivel. This occurs as the weather begins to turn cold. As the pumpkin matures, you’ll also notice the exterior thickening and feeling tough. Fully ripe pumpkins typically have leathery, dull, matte rinds that are hard to penetrate with your fingernail. Underripe pumpkins usually have glossy skins that you can see in the sunlight. One last test is: your pumpkin will sound hollow when tapped with your fingers due to the development of interior air pockets in the final stage of ripening. Happy harvesting this fall!

Let’s dive into the fun with the joke of the day! It’s called “Going on a Run.”

Terry confided in his friend:

“You know, every morning for the past six months, I’ve announced loudly to my family that I am going for a jog, and then I don’t do it. It’s my longest ‘running joke’ this year.”
