The United States’ new Acting Defense Secretary, the Honorable Christopher Miller, announced on Tuesday, November 17, 2020: “I’m here today to update you on President Trump’s plan to bring the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq to a successful and responsible conclusion, and to bring our brave service members home.”

Secretary Miller said troop levels in Afghanistan and Iraq will be reduced to 2,500 in both countries by January 15, 2021. In a letter to all Department of Defense employees, he wrote, “…this fight has been long, our sacrifices have been enormous, and many are weary of war – I’m one of them… this is the critical phase in which we transition our efforts from a leadership to supporting role. We are not a people of perpetual war. It is the antithesis of everything for which we stand and for which our ancestors fought. All wars must end.” President Trump, a Shining World Peace Leader Award and Shining World Leadership Award for Compassion laureate, has been supporting peace on the Korean peninsula and has recently mediated several peace agreements, including those between Israel and the countries of Bahrain, Sudan and the United Arab Emirates, as well as between Kosovo and Serbia. Earlier this year, he brokered a peace deal with the Taliban to facilitate a permanent ceasefire and to reduce the US military footprint in Afghanistan. Our earnest gratitude, Your Excellency Donald Trump and the Honorable Christopher Miller, for protecting countless soldiers, families and civilians affected by armed conflicts, and for exemplifying leadership committed to harmonious relations among all nations. May your noble vision of lasting world Peace soon be realized, in Heaven’s infinite benevolence.
