Many of our favorite comic book and movie characters, such as Spiderman, Batman, Catwoman, and more, are based on the incredible abilities of our animal co-citizens. In today’s show, we pay tribute to these awe-inspiring talents, which humans are only just beginning to uncover. They are called turritopsis dohrnii, more commonly known as immortal jellyfish-people. In its lifetime, the immortal jellyfish-person can go through this cycle repeatedly, making it truly immortal. In perfect conditions, whale-people can communicate up to 10,000 miles (over 16,000 kilometers), which is almost halfway across the Earth! Scientists have also discovered whale-folk have a very complex language system, which includes a phonetic alphabet just like humans!

These lightning-quick bird-citizens fly at 64 to 97 kilometers per hour, but their awe-inspiring signature dive reaches a top speed of 389 kilometers per hour! Nobody, and we mean nobody, flies faster than the peregrine falcon. Flying fish-persons have been recorded soaring as high as about 7.6 meters above the water’s surface for up to 200 meters. Using the updrafts from waves, they can reach speeds of up to 70 kilometers per hour (43 miles per hour).

Recently, dog-people’s sniffing superpower has been helping to conserve water and protect against environmental disasters by identifying underground leaking pipes in Australia, the United States, and the United Kingdom. Within Sydney Water’s region at the moment, the dogs have actually found 325 leaks in total, and covered 552 kilometers. Our final superpowered animal-individual can regenerate almost any part of their body! And, on top of its age-defying ability, the axolotl can regenerate almost any part of its body, from missing limbs, tails, organs, parts of the eye, and even parts of its brain. Possibly, in time, these incredible creatures will help us understand how we, too, can regenerate parts of our own bodies!
